I FINALLY GET IT!

Now that we are 95% of the way through the semester, I am finally started to understand logic. It is sad that  I am finally starting to understand it now that we are almost done with the class.
In section 4.7, I realized that I was finally starting to get it and then I got my quiz back from last week and really saw a significant improvement.
In section 5.1, I did not struggle at all. I grasped these concepts of categorical syllogisms right away. I am so glad that all my hard work is finally paying off.

I have been spending so much time studying this subject all semester because I was struggling so badly and I have finally shined through. Hard work really does pay off!!

Does anyone agree or disagree?

  1. I agree that your hard work has paid off. But I do not feel like I have had the same rewards. But I agree that it has been hard trying to grasp the stuff in this class. The quiz scores and test scores of everyone in the class seems to point to the fact that we are not alone. Maybe we should do exercises in class rather than go over questions from the book. Maybe it is not working for everyone. Exercises are hands-on and seem to work for most people.

  2. That is one of the major reasons I asked for a final review. I know that it is going to be a lot of work for me, but it will force me to review all of the concepts and hopefully understand them a little bit better.

  4. I don't think it's sad at all. It's a great feeling when you struggle with something and then experience a breakthrough, whenever that happens. I worked on a basic guitar arpeggio daily for nine months before I started to feel good at it -- and eight months later I'm still getting measurably better!

  5. No problem Jasmine! I am glad I was able to help you! I try to let other people know what my methods are because they could be useful to other people as well as to myself. It is good to know that I was able to make logic a little bit easier for someone else :).
Professor Silliman, I agree with you 100%. It feels great when you work really hard at something and then finally start to grasp it. For a while, it may feel hopeless, and you may want to give up, but when all the pieces start falling into place, everything is worth it. Thank you for all of your help this semester and thank you for having Kyle as a teaching assistant as he was very helpful to me throughout this semester!

  6. I agree completely Sam, hard work always pays off, and the older we get, I think the more hard work prevails over talent. I feel like grade school allows people to get buy on intelligence and talent, and once we get to college, and beyond, hard work is usually the most rewarding trait to have.
